National Provider Identifier (NPI) and Taxonomy Codes-Are You Ready?
As previously communicated, AMERIGROUP Community Care (AMERIGROUP) has aligned its implementation date for requiring a valid National Provider Identifier (NPI) and taxonomy code as mandated by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) with the Texas State Medicaid Program. The State recently announced that implementation is delayed until May 23,2008. Therefore, effective on and after May 23,2008, AMERIGROUP will REJECT healthcare claim submissions that do not contain valid NPI and taxonomy code information in the correct locations as delineated in the table on page 2 of this communication.
